Status: In a relationship with English

Ingvild (26)

I have studied to become a teacher at Bergen University College the past four years, and am currently a student of Masters in Education with English Didactics. My reason for choosing this particular Master's degree is that I wanted to learn more about English as a subject, but also about Education and the Teaching Profession.

Ever since I was little I have been fascinated by languages, in particular English. My Master's thesis will most likely have something to do with the correlation between texts and learning. I believe texts have a potential to widen our perspective on life. For there is something that happens in the process of reading; «in the interaction between the text and a reader» ( Assessing Reading, Alderson 2000:3). I also believe that being a student of Masters in Education, has widened my perspective. I have been challenged through fruitful discussions with the other students on the course. Some of my thoughts on teaching have had to be altered, others have been reaffirmed.

If you too have a passion, not only for English, but also for teaching ,I recommend this study to you.

Quote of the day found here:

"A book (...) is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy". ~Edward P. Morgan
